EN Sean Wirz (*1988) is a film director and screenwriter. His short films have screened at numerous film festivals worldwide, including Uppsala SFF, Aesthetica SFF York, Filmfest Dresden and Brest European SFF. His documentary short GRENZENLOS (2022) portrays the 19-year-old Afghan refugee Mohadeseh on her rocky search for an apprenticeship and celebrated its world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival as part of the anthology FUTURA! (2022). His entry SMOKEFREE – I AM STRONGER (2017) won both the jury and public-voting award at a nationwide advertisement competition. In addition to fiction and advertising, Sean produces works with a social character. These include a film workshop for people with a physical disability, or a short documentary on the everyday life and perspectives of people affected by dementia. Sean also creates the sound design and film music for many of his films. He began as a musician and composer. Later he assisted at the venerable Sound Design Studios AG, where he held a seat on the board of directors. Sean studied in Australia, Zurich and New York City. He lives in Bern, Switzerland, and dives into the cool waters of his beloved river Aare all year round.

(2022) am Zurich Film Festival Weltpremiere. Seine Werbung SMOKEFREE – ICH BIN STÄRKER (2017) gewann bei einem landesweiten Filmwettbewerb den Jury- und Publikumspreis. Nebst Fiktion und Werbung realisiert Sean Arbeiten mit sozialem Charakter. Darunter ein Filmworkshop für Menschen mit einer körperlichen Behinderung, oder ein Kurzdokumentarfilm zu Alltag und Perspektive demenzbetroffener Menschen. Für viele seiner Filme realisiert Sean auch Sounddesign und Filmmusik. Angefangen hat er als Musiker und Komponist. Später assistierte er in der ehrwürdigen Sound Design Studios AG, wo er einen Verwaltungsratssitz innehatte. Sean studierte in Australien, Zürich und New York City. Er lebt in Bern und taucht zu jeder Jahreszeit in das kalte Nass seiner geliebten Aare ein.
